10-Minute Games That Turn Chaos Into 2x Focus

Tutoring Centers Confront Engagement Crisis

Children portray disengagement, side conversations, and fidgeting rather than concentrating on academic tasks

In an era where children are driven by dopamine and can barely sit for an hour focused, children aged 6-8 specifically struggle transitioning from high-energy states to sustained academic focus while receiving tutoring. A 2023 meta-analysis even revealed how unstructured teaching methodologies cost U.S. education billions annually as students fail to maximize their resources.

Now a days

Kids are bored and want to have more "fun" during sessions so they spend most of the time, especially younger kids, trying to make tutoring programs fun and forget the purpose of why they're there, to learn.

Physical Activity Triggers BDNF Elevation

Pre-frontal cortex activation through structured movement creates optimal conditions for retention.

Any physical activity, especially in young kids, raises BDNF, a neurological factor that acts as a growth stimulator and is essential for the survival and growth of brain cells, according to the National Institutes of Health. BDNF, in other words, allows kids to retain more information and process what is learned as new brain cells are being stimulated and grown to hold this new information and process it. Without this hormone, information is most likely to pass on and not be retained in a kid's mind, as their brain cells aren’t being stimulated to grow. Many schools have already taken this factor into mind and instituted a recess in elementary schools and middle schools, yet many tutoring centers lack this and, for that reason, don’t have the best results out of kids as they expect. Despite how good teachers and tutors are, if the environment in a 6-8-year-old's brain isn’t in the correct condition, then kids are not going to absorb the information and learn as greatly as they are expected to. This physical activity prior to tutoring would erase this issue of kids not being as concentrated and focused as they should, as it would directly stimulate the kids' brains to want to absorb more information and focus during tutoring sessions.

8 Week Investigation: Intervention vs Control Group Analysis

(Tutoring was received on Tuesday and Thursday but only Tuesday received 10 minutes of structured physical activity)

Tuesday flourished with progress, and tutors reported fewer distractions, more focus, and an increase in their quiz scores. Thursday, on the other hand, fluctuated between the low 70s and high 70s. Tutors in all reported Tuesdays group "much more focused... not talking with friends or fidgeting" compared to Thursdays group which was more hectic.

Implement Pre-Tutoring Movement Infrastructure

Without optimal brain conditioning, children cannot achieve expected retention and learning levels.

As elementary schools institutionalize recess and recognize BDNF's critical role in children's cognitive preparation, tutoring centers must adopt equivalent protocols. GameAndGain provides the scientifically validated 10-minute solution that transforms sessions efficiently for both students and instructors.
